(New York, NY – August 13, 2009) Eclectic Method, the preeminent audiovisual remix ensemble, announced today their participation in Future Projections, the Toronto International Film Festival’s popular city-wide program of moving-image art projects, inspired by the history and culture of cinema. In a free performance during the Festival Wrap Party at Yonge-Dundas Square on September 19, the renowned trio will thrill film and music lovers with a live video remix set incorporating clips from the films included in The Essential 100, the opening show of TIFF Bell Lightbox. Their performance is scheduled to go on at 9 p.m., immediately after the 7 p.m. screening of Copyright Criminals.
It is fitting that Noah Cowan, Artistic Director, TIFF Bell Lightbox, invited Eclectic Method to perform live for this seminal event, aligning with Future Projections interest in expanding the traditional definition of film. As progressive creative ensemble, Eclectic Method symbolizes the future of the symbiotic relationship between culture, media and technology. Their signature remixes feature television, film, music and video game footage sliced and diced into blistering, postmodern dance floor events. Eclectic Methods live YDS performance of epic-scale proportions (the visual remixes will be projected onto two side screens and a 15 x 27 LED wall behind them) in a large public space represents the intersection of new disciplines and celebration of active participation between artist and audience. Eclectic Method’s unique and innovative craftsmanship have helped pioneer the emerging art of audiovisual mixing and has pushed the boundaries of club and concert visuals and events around the world.
