BY: JonnyWell it’s been a fun bunch of parties on the east coast since my trip to LA. The Box was an amazing gig and astonishingly fun place, we stayed all night to check out Holy Ghost and the regular Box show. Then I played the Radar party at Club M1-5 the highlight of which was remixing the Bambi Killers (who had played before me) blood and rock and sickness that you must check out. Then Ian came over to do the AFI Silverdocs film festival in DC, we went to support the docu movie RIP which we have remixed and were remixing live in the cinema lobby. DC was the greatest small audience ever, about 60 people completely rocking out in a cinema… popcorn, booze and all. AND THEN back to NYC for the excellent Open Video Conference. A conference about the ever evolving momentum of online video and it’s various forms, as you can imagine it was the perfect audience for us. Me and Ian gave a talk in the afternoon at the conference, quite cutely with the NYU Law Emblem infront of the podium. I used to get mad nervous about talking about what we do to an audience … “well basically we piss about with video and some people like it”. We have even collectively turned down the opportunity to teach in Universities and Various Media Establishments because it all feels a bit false or weird. Nowadays I’m a bit more relaxed about it, although there is apparently video of our talk and i won’t be linking to it.
After the talk we played at LPR and it was a great show, me and Ian have been gathering a bunch of new video we weren’t able to play yet and had fun whipping out various tunes against each other in multi turntable play mode, pretty sure the audience liked it as well. Also wired did a piece on us about recent stuff we’ve been up to and just today a piece came out in Thrillist about our new NYC home The Brooklyn Bowl. The Brooklyn Bowl is a bowling alley + music venue + blue ribbon restaurant with tons of HD screens, Projections, DJ booth kitted with full Pioneer AV Set up basically for sick sick AV Shows and Live Shows and obviously live AV Shows with Eclectic Method AV Stuff + more interactive performances on stage, guest MCs, beatboxers, Comedians and stuff we ain’t thought of yet… This is where we are going to be playing every month with folk like Questlove on Friday nights plus it’s in my hood so my bowling skills are gonna be vastly improving. Any NYC heads have to see this on our first night, which we will no doubt go on about here. Also we just built a remixer/remix with Mediatronica and Dark Igloo for HP.
Now my Dad is in New York visiting me. I barely see himĀ due to me never returning to the UK much , so I’m chilling… Sort of.
